Cracked Ice is America’s party band of distinction. They’re New York City area musicians who regularly perform on national television, on gold and platinum albums, and in sold-old concert and stadium tours. They’re consummate music industry insiders, the ringers who are called in whenever the music has to be perfection. In other words, Cracked Ice musicians perform together not because they have to, but because they want to. Their renowned reputation for musical mastery, style, and sophistication has made them one of the leading bands of the discerning, the affluent, the Fortune 500, and serious music lovers.
The group is led by saxophonist, composer, and producer Crispin Cioe who has toured with the Rolling Stones. He has performed with the likes of Ray Charles and Aretha Franklin and has soloed on hit records such as “Living in America” with James Brown. Crispin has put together a distinguished group of professional musicians who are considered to be among top recording and touring artists in America: singers who’ve toured with David Bowie, Paul Simon and Steely Dan; a drummer who has recorded with Bob Dylan and Dr. John; a keyboardist who has performed on hit Broadways shows like “Victor, Victoria”; a bass player who has recorded with the likes of Wilson Pickett; and a guitartist who has recorded with none other than Madonna.
The Cracked Ice band performs regularly at weddings, receptions, bar mitzvah’s, bat mitzvah’s, corporate parties and other corporate events as well as charity balls and fundraisers. Cracked Ice recently from a month of triumphant partying and musical entertainment on the isle of Bermuda for NBC/Universal, in connection with the networks’ presentation of the Athens Olympics.
Cracked Ice performs all forms of popular music: rock ’n’ roll, rhythm and blues, soul, funk, jazz, and pop. Clients and their guests relish requesting tune after tune and witnessing the band perform them flawlessly on the spot. That is why, for instance, singer/songwriter Marc Cohn (“Walking in Memphis”) and his bride ABC newswoman Elizabeth Vargas chose Cracked Ice for their Manhattan wedding reception/ Guests like Jackson Browne, Rosanne Cash, Carly Simon and the groom danced and sat in with the band to jam the night away.
